As I traveled from Boston to Kansas City for INS 2024, where hundreds of infusion nurses and clinicians from all over the globe would gather, I had time to reflect on the energy and excitement that an INS Annual Meeting provides. The atmosphere is charged with enthusiasm, from the applause emanating from a general session to the lively discussions in the exhibit hall as vendors and attendees explore the benefits of new products. This buzz is reminiscent of dining at a great restaurant where reservations are strongly recommended.

The sessions this year were particularly insightful, addressing the most current and pressing issues in the infusion industry, and were presented by esteemed experts in the field. The education offered at an INS Annual Meeting typically receives high evaluation ratings, reflecting the quality and relevance of the content, but what captures my attention most are the unsolicited comments we receive as INS staff members while standing behind the registration desk or walking down the hall. “Great meeting, thanks so much, and best one yet!” These words speak louder and longer than any written evaluation or survey ever could.

I am fortunate to have attended 30 Annual Meetings during my INS career. From my first meeting in 1995, when I was just beginning to understand the importance of associations in providing essential education and networking opportunities for infusion clinicians, to INS 2024, my 30th Annual Meeting,  I continue to be amazed at the passion, energy, and excitement that this meeting generates.  It mirrors the passion that you, as nurses, exhibit each day and the number of lives you touch. In many cases, your patients may not remember your name, but they certainly remember what you have done for them. This is something that should never get lost in the chaos and confusion that, at times, can consume your day.

So, join me in enjoying the applause and the buzz, and thank YOU for making this a truly great meeting!
