Britt M. Meyer

Chair

Dr. Meyer is a Duke University School of Nursing Quality Implementation Scholar who provides leadership for vascular access and infusion practices at Duke University Health System. She is currently involved in a variety of research projects aimed at improving patient outcomes related to vascular access and infusion therapy and joined INCC to promote the specialty of infusion nursing and to foster the reputation of the CRNI credential.

Peg Gruenemeier

Chair-Elect

Peg Gruenemeier, is the Director of Clinical Services for AvevoRx, where she provides supervision and support for nursing, quality, compliance, education, and accreditation. She has more than 32 years of infusion experience, with many of those years in leadership positions focusing on start-up and new program development. Her roles have included Vice-President of Quality at Optum Infusion and Vice-President of Clinical Services for Diplomat Specialty Infusion Group, legacy BioRx, where she grew the nursing program to 400 nurses nationally. Peg managed an Older Adult Mental Health Unit and implemented a day rehabilitation facility for Seniors with mental health needs. She has a BSN from Ohio University and is currently working on her master’s in nursing education. Peg has presented several posters on a variety of infusion topics and has been published in the Journal of Clinical Immunology. She holds multiple certifications and is active in INS, Immunoglobulin National Society (IgNS), and National Home Infusion Association (NHIA). She currently serves on the Board for Infusion Nurses Certification Corporation (INCC) and on the Quality Committee for NHIA.

Trisha Cakanic

Director

Trisha Cakanic has been a registered nurse since 2003, and is currently employed as a charge nurse in oncology infusion at Froedtert Health in West Wend, Wisconsin, and works per diem at Advocate Aurora Health in the transplant clinic. Trisha holds a master’s degree in nursing education from Grand Canyon University. She has been an OCN® since 2009 and earned her CRNI® in 2018. A member of numerous professional nursing organizations, Trisha has been a member of INS since 2009 and is currently on the board of the local INS chapter in Wisconsin. She passionately believes that certification builds the foundation for continuing education and professional growth.

Karin Cierzan

RN, CRNI®, CGRN, VA-BC
Director

Karin Cierzan has been in the field of nursing for over 38 years, the last 34 as an RN. She received her certification in gerontology in 1994, and has also worked in transitional care, telemetry, and cardiac/medical ICU. Karin obtained her gastroenterology nursing certification in 2012, and at that time, became active with the Minnesota Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (MNSGNA). At the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) Annual Course, she was elected to the board of directors as the vice speaker of the house of delegates, then later became the speaker. After being appointed to the Item Review Committee with the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN), she was elected to a board position in 2018, and has served as director, president elect, and most recently, president. Her passion is professional certification, nursing empowerment, and positive patient outcomes, and she has spoken regionally and nationally on infusion therapy and certification, and recently received the Gabriele Schindler Award for her clinical excellence. She obtained her CRNI® in 2022 and her VA-BC in 2023.

Elizabeth May

DNP, RN, NEA-BC, NPD-BC, CRNI®
Director

Elizabeth May has over 20 years of nursing experience in various practice settings and roles. Elizabeth developed her love of infusion nursing in her role as a vascular access nurse, placing bedside PICCs in a community hospital in Connecticut. Elizabeth achieved an Associate of Science in Nursing from Three Rivers Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Old Dominion University. Elizabeth is currently the senior director of education and professional development for Riverside Health System in Virginia. She leads a team of dynamic professional development practitioners in monitoring, planning, implementing, and evaluating national trends and evidence-based practices in alignment with the system’s strategic plan to impact the organization and patient care outcomes and ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring operations and programs and initiating changes where required.

Felicia Schaps

MSN-Ed, RN, CRNI®, OCN®, CNSC, lgCN, VA-BC
Director

Felicia Schaps has been an RN for over 30 years, with the majority of her career in home infusion. She is currently Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Compliance for ContinuumRx, a regional home infusion pharmacy. Felicia has been actively involved with INS in a variety of roles: she served on the RN Exam Council for several years, was INS President in 2018-2019, has been a reviewer for the Journal of Infusing Nursing, and is the cochair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force. Felicia was named as a fellow for the National Home Infusion Association in 2021, the inaugural year of the program. Competition included some of the most highly qualified infusion professionals. Felicia joined INCC to help promote excellent infusion nursing knowledge, as evidenced by obtaining the CRNI® credential. Her nursing career has focused on education of the nurse and the patient.

Teresa Sothcott

Public Member

Teresa Sothcott is an innovative, award-winning project and program management professional in the global technology and e-learning industry. Her specialty is simplifying complex concepts, and her recent work includes implementing a new end-to-end project lifecycle application to improve organizational growth and productivity. She was formerly the assistant director of the Duke University MBA Health Sector Management program, and she Teresa enjoys as well as supporting her local community through The Center for Volunteer Caregiving.

Christopher Hunt

Chief Executive Officer

Chris Hunt serves as the Chief Executive Officer of INS and INCC and an Ex Officio member of both the INS and INCC board of directors. In his role as CEO, Chris works with the executive management team to develop strategies for new business development and overall organizational growth. Chris began his INS career in 1995 when INS did not have e-mail or the internet, and people had to use a telephone to communicate. He held positions as meetings manager, director of meetings, director of marketing, and executive vice president before assuming his current position as CEO in May 2023. An avid and passionate Boston sports fan, Chris has spent the last 20 years enjoying one Boston team championship after another while trying to convince his three equally passionate adult children that Boston sports wasn’t always this wonderful.
